YIRRAMBOI are committed to disability justice and making the festival an accessible space for all mob. YIRRAMBOI are proud to offer Auslan interpretation, relaxed spaces, relaxed performances, hearing assistance, tactile tours, wheelchair and mobility access.

Complimentary companion tickets are offered on all YIRRAMBOI events. You can check with the individual point of sale to find out how to book Companion Tickets.

For shows sold via YIRRAMBOI’s ticketing platform Ferve, Companion Tickets can be booked online. Enter the promo code COMPANION into the promotional code field to reveal Companion Tickets and book your tickets online. We do not ask for proof of Companion Card.

Auslan is the Australian sign language for people who are Deaf and hard of hearing. Auslan interpreting involves interpreters standing to one side of the stage or speaker and live translating the performance into Auslan.

YIRRAMBOI 2025 Auslan interpreted performances include:

Hearing assistance allows audiences using a hearing aid to tune into the frequency of that venue. A number of festival venues have hearing assistance systems available.You can find out more about venue accessibility in our Venues section. Please contact the venue if you have any questions about hearing assistance.

Relaxed performances can include adjustments for loud noises, lighting and seating – further information is available on the event page.

Relaxed Performances focus on relaxing or adapting the theatre environment while maintaining the creative integrity of the show.

In a Relaxed Performance:

  • Artists may make minor changes to sensory elements of a show such as reducing bright lighting or loud noises.
  • There is a relaxed attitude to noise and movement.
  • You are welcome to bring in, and use, stimming devices.
  • The theatre doors remain open; and the house lights remain on, but dimmed, throughout the performance.
  • You can leave the venue at any time and a designated quiet area is available

A Relaxed Space is a room or area near the performance space that is a safe, sensory-friendly environment for those seeking quiet and calm. A Relaxed Space may have soft seating, low lighting and/or fidget spinners. Please contact YIRRAMBOI if you have questions about relaxed spaces.

Relaxed Spaces will be available at a number offestival venues including The Uncle Jack Charles Festival Hub.

During Tactile Tours, audiences are given a tour of the stage and invited to touch the sets, costumes and props while the artists describe them.

A number of works at YIRRAMBOI 2025 will include open captions. Captions will be displayed on a screen enabling the audience to read.
