Melbourne Recital Centre comprises two striking performance spaces, carefully crafted to bring musicians and music-lovers together.

Elizabeth Murdoch Hall

Elisabeth Murdoch Hall is lined with exquisite plywood panels of Australian plantation Hoop Pine timber, designed to resemble the back of a beautiful instrument and provide greater acoustic intimacy across the 1000-seat auditorium. The platform acoustics enrich the strength, clarity and blending of instruments as well as the communication between ensemble players on stage.

Primrose Potter Salon

The organic acoustics of Elisabeth Murdoch Hall extend to the Primrose Potter Salon, a uniquely intimate 140-seat performance and event space.

Comprising a series of diffusing timber panels with tessellated plywood faces which tip in and out to form a modulated wall and ceiling, the Primrose Potter Salon can be set up in multiple formations including concert-mode, cabaret-mode with tables and chairs and in the round.

There are accessible toilets located on all foyer levels and backstage areas of the Centre. Ambulant toilets are also available on the Ground Floor and Level 2. Please ask venue staff for assistance in locating the one nearest to your seating location.

This space changes depending on concert requirements. Please contact Box Office prior to arrival to confirm location.

Limited on-street parking available. Dodds Street, which is located next to Southbank Theatre and can be entered via Grant Street, has four accessible car spaces. On-street parking around Southbank is limited, with 3-hour limits in place in many areas.

Accessible car spaces at all major car parks throughout the Melbourne Arts Precinct, including the the Arts Centre Melbourne Car Park and the Primrose Potter Australian Ballet Centre Car Park.

Sturt Street entrance is the safest pick-up/drop-off point for taxis and ride share drivers.
