A Fight for Survival

The Northlands Collective Mob

When something really matters, you take the fight right to the top.

The Northlands Collective Mob take on a critical story about a landmark moment in our collective Australian history: the fight to save Victoria’s treasured Northland Secondary College from an authorisation to shut it down.

The school was known for embracing community perspectives, ways of learning and knowing. In 1992, students Muthama Sinnappan and Bruce Foley made a bold move, claiming to the Equal Opportunity Board that the State’s decision to close it was an act of systemic racial discrimination.

Featuring a huge cast of many nations, including people who were involved with the school and the case itself, awarded artists and emerging talent, this is the Australian premiere of A Fight for Survival.

It’s a proudly unifying point in time for our country. A look at how the whole community comes together for healing, hope and future.
